Discover 3 of Provence’s most famous destinations – Avignon, Arles and Orange ! La Provence, famous for its wines, olives and art de vivre. We’ll take you to the hidden sides of Provence’s cities, just 2 ½ hours from Paris using France’s famous high-speed TGV train!

During your 3 day - 2 night self-guided journey your home will be the walled Papal city of Avignon. From there you will have two day trips to visit Van Gogh’s city of Arles with its Roman past and the massive “Théâtre antique d'Orange”, a Roman theatre built early in the 1st Century A.D. Both day trips are an easy train transfer away from Avignon.
Bikes will be available at your hotel during your stay. We can suggest different possibilities for rides in the area depending upon your travel plans.

Please note: travel to Avignon and from the train station to your hotel days 1 and 3 are not included. It is an easy transfer from the train station to your hotel.
Itinerary :
Day 1 : Arrive in Avignon. Your first day in Provence will be spent discovering on foot Avignon's many wonders : Pope’s Palace, Saint Bénezet Bridge… Hotel in Avignon.
Day 2 : Take a train from the center of Avignon to Orange. (Train’s travel time is about 15 minutes each way).
Discover on foot a magnificently preserved Roman theatre, used year-round for different events including plays and music festivals. Hotel in Avignon.
Day 3 : Take a train from the center of Avignon to Arles. (Train’s travel time is about 20 minutes each way). Follow in Van Gogh’s footsteps and discover Arles at your own pace...Roman amphitheater, morning market (twice a week)... Trip ends back in Avignon.

For your trip south, grab an early breakfast on board France’s high-speed TGV giving you more time to spend in Provence. Trains leave regularly from the Gare de Lyon train station in the center of Paris.

3 Days, 2 Nights from March 1 to June 30 and from August 1 to November 30, 2007.
Whether you’re traveling alone, as a family or amongst friends, you can choose any day of the week to start your trip and can arrive at any time during the first day.
Meeting Point
For travel arrangements we can help you by booking your train in advance. The tickets will be waiting in Paris at the Fat Tire Bike Tours's office (directions here). If you book up to two months in advance the train tickets can be as little as 50€ round trip from Paris to Avignon. Eurail passes can also be used!
