Work
The Paris operation has completed hiring for both spring and summer 2008. We continue to hire for the fall season. The London operation continues to hire for both the summer and fall season.
We are currently hiring for our operations in both Paris and London. Paris is our flagship operation so all information below is geared to that city, however, the concepts are the same for our London operation and you will have the opportunity to indicate in your application if you're interested in both Paris and London or just one of the cities.
Anyone that has completed their junior year at university is a potential Candidate. Of course Candidates also must have an exceptional personality, superb speaking skills, the ability to quickly adapt to changing situations, an interest in international travel, high integrity and a large smile.
Below is a brief description of the two available positions:
Guide Staff
- Leading both Day and Night bicycle tours of Paris.
- Leading both Day and Night Segway tours of Paris.
- Potentially leading bicycle tours of Versailles & Monet’s Gardens.
- Leading walking tours of Paris.
- Helping with pre-tour setup.
- Helping with post-tour operations.
- Visiting hotels and hostels to drop off our brochures.
- Attending team meetings.
- Bike repair.
Office Staff
- Answering phones.
- Taking reservations.
- Providing excellent customer service.
- Assisting both French and English speaking tourists.
- Renting bikes.
- Greeting and speaking to groups of customers as they arrive.
- Completing specific projects around our office.
- Assisting tours when a problem arises.
- Closing our shop at the end of the night.
Selected Candidates will be invited for an interview and interviews will be conducted in person when possible. Phone interviews are also possible for those that do not live in the Central Texas (Austin) area.
After interviews, selected Candidates will be invited to an Evaluation Week in Austin with the Owner, Operations Manager and Business Development Managers. This week comes immediately prior to scheduled departure for Paris. Any Candidate that does not successfully complete this evaluation period or does not meet company standards will not be invited to Paris. Obviously this rarely occurs, but we will take only those serious about this job. Our company is not the “average summer job” and much is expected of staff. Evaluation Week will give a clear indication of the enthusiasm and preparedness of each Candidate for the job.
Evaluation Week will consist of roughly five dedicated days of preparation for the job. Activities will include:
- Practice giving tours and review tour information.
- Practice office and tour procedures.
- Learn bicycle and Segway maintenance.
- Work as a team.
- Watch videos of past tours.
- Discuss marketing.
- Complete daily tests regarding tour and company information and procedures.
- Completing a final exam that includes all previous daily tests and still further information.
Qualified Candidates will then spend roughly 3 months based in the Paris or London office.
If you are interested in working with us in 2008, please review the following documents.
The appropriate application should be completed and returned with a cover letter, resume and picture to the email address(es) listed in the application.
